| General Note |
- General note - Historic Caldera bay was used by the Spaniards as a base of naval operation against the Muslims of Jolo, the Dutch and the British. On one of its points stood a small fort, which flew the Spanish colors. It had a good, though small anchorage, free from the currents of the Straits of Basilan. It was therefore an excellent stopping-place, in case the tide proved unfavorable. Today, three cultures mingle in this site. A perpetual reminder of Spain''s reign are the ruins of old houses. Cement plants along the bay represent modernization. The Muslim village with the traditional mosque has large residential houses of opulent Muslims.
