  • Title - Caldera Fort ruins
General Note
  • General note - Photo was taken in 1967 as it was being bulldozed and demolished by Timex, owners of the site. This was the oldest stone fort built by Spain in 1593 at La Caldera, Recodo, Zamboanga. The fort was about seventy square feet and was principally built of large blocks of red coral as a protection against the Sulu pirates, who raided the settlements and carried off the inhabitants as slaves for ransom.
