| General Note |
- General note - Photo shows a typical Samal town built on water. Taluksangay, 19 kilometers from Zamboanga City, became home to the Nuño family after they decided to return to Mindanao from Gagayan Valleys. A punitive expedition sent by Governor-General Narciso Claveria in 1848 destroyed Balanguingui, their original home in eastern Sulu. Several hundred Samals were killed while the survivors were taken to Cagayan. In 1970, about 18,000 Muslims from Sakol escaped military bombardment by seeking refuge in Taluksangay.
