| General Note |
- General note - Legend has it that Spanish soldiers were asking some merry-making locals what the name of the place was, and the natives, thinking they were inquiring about the celebration, answered "kapid," meaning twins, for twins had been born among them. Hence, the name Capiz, misinterpreted by the soldiers. Another explanation is that the name is taken from the kapis shells which line its shores.
