| General Note |
- General note - Paombong lies southeast of the province of Bulacan and is hounded on the north by Malolos, on the west by Hagonoy and on the south by Manila. Some areas are characterized by the preponderance of mixed sand and clay; others are low and swampy; the rest, rich and suited to agriculture. Nipa swamps abound in the town and yield the famous "sukand Paombong." The name "Paombong" means sitio of many "bombong," a long jointed tube which the people use to contain nipa juice. Paombong was founded by the Augustinian friars in 1619 in sitio Bungalong, now a part of Barrio San Roque. The town was the scene of several crucial battles between the Katipuneros under General Isidoro Torres and the Spanish forces in 1897.
