| General Note |
- General note - When the Balangay Apuy was prematurely discovered by the Spanish authorities in Malolos, General Isidoro Torres led his men to Barrio Masukol, an islet off the coast of Paombong and reached by the vast extent of the Manila Bay. In December 1896, the camp had more than 4000 men conducting raids against the Spanish installations in Malolos, Bulacan town and Paombong. The Katipuneros were often attacked by the enemy but had always managed to escape into Manila Bay. After the fierce battle of Cacaron de Sile on January 1, 1897, General Gregorio del Pilar and his men joined Torres in Masukol. Together, they hatched a plan to take over the town convent which was then the headquarters of the Spanish cazadores. As the islet is only reached by water, it becomes inaccessible when the shallow swamps connecting it to the town get unnavigable at low tides.
