| General Note |
- General note - From the 60s up to the establishment of duty-free shops, Cartimar in Pasay City was the mecca of shoppers looking for imported luxury items--golf sets, air conditioners, chairs, umbrellas, chocolate bars, sports shoes. These were sourced mostly from American military installations like Clark Field, Sangley Point, and Subic Bay. Its popularity fuelled by import control from 1949 to 1960, Cartimar outlived its original use and evolved into a one-stop shop for novelty and bargain items.
