Title Statement
  • Title - Mainit Town
General Note
  • General note - The town of Kainit (hot), one of Surigao del Norte''s more progressive municipalities, nestles at the foot of Mount Diwata. It is famous for its scenic lake, also called Mainit. The town and the lake were named after the river which traverses the town, because of the sulphuric spring located near the river''s source. Formerly a barrio of Placer, Mainit became a separate municipality in 1931. A view of the townsite seen from the lake is shown in this photo.
