| General Note |
- General note - Cebu City, which lies 360 miles southwest of Manila, is the center of trade, commerce and education in the Visayas. The location makes it the ideal port of call for vessels doing the Asian routes. The place has grown into the second largest city in the Philippines peoples by successful businessmen and professionals, while its wharves and piers witness a never-ending traffic of goods. The population was nearly half a million in 1968. The natural formation of the island and the deforestation during the past century have caused a shortage of fresh water in the city. A desalinization plant has been established at the outskirts to turn sea water into fresh water.
