- General note - Punta Cruz Watchtower. A Spanish sentinel tower built in 1796 to espy coming Muslim raids stands prominently some 50 ft. high on a rocky cliff at the extremity of Punta Cruz. The fort, squat and triangular in plan, used to have an enormous bell which tolled whenever the raiders were spotted.
