- General note - A couple of years after the creation of Davao Oriental as an independent province in 1967, Mati, its capital, was made a port of entry. Photo shows the town wharf in Pujada Bay. Here inter-island vessels pause for cargoes. Mati''s copra, which constitutes the province''s chief export product, is shipped directly abroad. Pujada peninsula protects the harbor.
