- General note - Aerial view of the Boac townsite, showing the market place (foreground) and the stone church built in 1792 at the hilltop (background). Boac, the capital of Marinduque, lies on the left bank of the Biglang-Awa river about 1 ½ Miles from the sea. It was one of the first 3 towns established by the Spaniards (Batangas) along with Mindoro. It has 54 barrios and an area of 20,070 hectares. The town of Mogpog was formerly one of its barrios. Boac is a fourth class municipality and comes next to Santa Cruz in income.
