General Note
  • General note - A historic battlefield during the Philippine-American war, now a popular beach resort. On November 21, 1899, an American gunboat stationed in Bohol attempted to land troops in Camiguin on the shore of Cabuwa-an, a sitio of Mambajao. A group of Filipino soldiers who called themselves "Los Libertadores" (The Liberators) thwarted the attempt. Under the command of Capt. Ricardo "Candoy" Reyes, the twenty American crew members were forced to withdraw after losing one. The "Battle of Cabuwa-an Beach" lasted for two hours before sundown. There was no casualty on the side of the Filipinos.
