- General note - Like many old cities, Bacolod folks reminisce of having heard the best music from the kiosk in the plaza. Stirring speeches and messages have been delivered here during celebrations and meetings. And on that historic Christmas Day of 1898, General Aniceto Lacson inaugurated here the alcaldes of all the towns of Negros, and proclaimed the province a Republic.
