| Title Statement |
- Title - Leyte supply dump
|
| General Note |
- General note - Huge piles of supplies crowd the muddy coconut field near the Leyte shore. Mud prevented the easy movement of supplies inland. On September 11, 1946, the Philippine government bought a number of equipment and supplies from the U.S. Army at an "estimated fair value" of P274,000,000 in what was then considered as the largest single transaction in the history of the country. The sale partly fulfilled the pending obligations of the American government to the Philippines under the Tydings Act. YYY
