| Title Statement |
- Title - Signing of the Laurel-Langley Agreement
|
| General Note |
- General note - Under the Bell Trade Act, a proportionally equal amount of duties was imposed on the import products of the Philippines and the United States. This arrangement was later deemed disadvantageous to the Philippines, due to the more advanced state of U.S. industrial development. It was corrected to a certain extent by the Laurel-Langley Agreement of 1954, which provided for an increase in the duties imposed on U.S. products and a decrease in the duties imposed on Philippine goods.
