- General note - The Manila Trading Center, a project of the National Economic Protectionism Association (NEPA), was a showroom of local products, which included bottled and canned foods, baskets and embroidered cloth. Aiming towards industrializing the Philippines and increasing the participation of Filipino merchants in local trade, NEPA was organized as part of the preparation for the eventual end of free trade with the United States, resulting from the enactment of the Tydings-MacDuffie Law.
