| General Note |
- General note - In small plantations a spindle, or hagutan, is used to extract fibers. A strip of fibrous layer is placed between the blades, with the outer half wound around the spindle and the end held tight by the stripper. As the spindle rotates, the strip is pulled backwards and the fleshy and juicy tissues are removed. Strands of clean fibers are left in the hand of the stripper, who repeats the operation on the other half.
