- General note - Fruit-bearing banana trees are propped up by bamboo poles tp prevent stooping from the weight of the fruit stems (about 30-40 kilos each). The fruit are wrapped in perforated plastic bags to protect them from scarring and insects. They also mature more quickly when wrapped in these bags.
