- Title - Fort San Antonio Abad
|
| Notes |
- Notes - Shown are American soldiers in front of tents pitched outside the walls of the fort. Fort San Antonio Abad is a triangular fort some five kilometers south of Intramuros. It was named after the hermit Abbot Anthony. Renovated in the 18th century, the installation was used as a powder magazine. The fort was built near the shoreline to protect the city from foreign invasion. It was also named after the Spanish maestre-de-campo who led expeditions against Jolo in the 1750s.
