| Notes |
- Notes - This cross is traditionally known as "Magellan's Cross". However, the cross "was torn down by the native and cut up into fragments", narrative "De Moluccis Insulis", dated October 24, 1522, the earliest published account of Magellan's expedition. Historians believe that this is the cross of the Augustinians who were with Legazpi. The original wooden cross was enclosed by the Augustinians in 1834 during the time of Bishop Santo Marañon, in order to preserve it from the weather and from the superstitious natives who tore splinters as a relic. The present cross is housed inside the tile-roofed kiosk at Magallanes Street, between the City Hall and the Santo Niño Basilica. The popular belief that this is Magellan's cross has been repeated in books, newspapers and magazine articles and even in tourist brochure.
