  • General note - This monument was erected by the Spanish colonial government to mark the spot where Ferdinand Magellan, the Portuguese navigator who sailed under the Spanish flag, was slain on April 27, 1521. There are inscriptions, as "Gobernador Don Miguel Cresus" on one side and "1866, Reinande Ysabel II" on the other side.
