General Note
  • General note - Nowhere in the country is the durian fruit (durio zibethinus) cultivated more extensively than in the Davao region, particularly in the barrio of Sirib, in Davao City. For this reason, the province has been identified with the delicious but pungent-smelling fruit which is popularly regarded as the province's "symbol". At Magsaysay Park a durian monument stands some 10 feet high. The fruit which is usually split into five parts has from 2 to 6 large seeds in each section.
