- General note - Photo shows another angle of the monument at the corner of Bonifacio Drive and Burgos Street. The funds for the monument were from subscriptions initiated by Sr. Gutierrez de la Vega. As it arrived in Manila at about the end of the Spanish regime, the monument was left in care of the American authorities. It was finally inaugurated on 4 July 1901, on the same day that Governor-General William H. Taft was sworn into office.
