General Note
  • General note - This monument was the work of Agustin Querol, sculptor, and Luis Maria Cabello, architect. On the front and rear of the pedestal are the arms of Manila and Spain. One side shows an allegorical representation of the sea and valor of Legazpi while the other, that of Urdaneta's erudition. The base also carries the names of Magallenes, El Cano, Jofre de Loaisa, and Villalobos.
