- General note - Shown is the stone column erected in 1814 at the end of the Magallanes drive to honor the Portuguese navigator who sailed to the east in 1519 in the name of the King of Spain. The column bears in carved stone an anchor, a cable, a cross, oak leaves, ears of wheat, grapes and pomegranates; and carries the inscription, "A Hernando Magallanes." The structure is believed to have fallen into the river during the 1945 bombardment.
