  • Title - Pineda Memorial, circa 1792
General Note
  • General note - Erected in the vicinity of the San Agustin Church in Manila at the expense of the Commander, officers and scientists of the Malaspina expedition in 1792. Antonio de Pineda, first "Teniente de Reales Guardias de Ynfanteria EspaƱola", was sent with the expedition to study the flora and agriculture condition of the Philippines. He died from a fever in Batac, Ilocos Norte, on June 23, 1792 at the age of 38.
