- General note - Shown is the white marble statue of the Spanish botanist in a court dress and holding a book in his hand. It was done by E. Clarasco of Barcelona and erected in 1890 but was badly damaged during the siege of Manila in 1898. the statue was put up again by leading Spanish residents of Manila in the Botanical Garden (now Mehan) on the side facing Paseo del P. Burgos.
