General Note
  • General note - On this lot, owned by the Looc Elementary School, the guerillas fought the Japanese Imperial Forces on October 11, 1942. At the beach beyond, on April 20, 1945, the American liberating forces landed elements of regimental combat team of a US division based in Cebu under the command of Col. William J. Mahoney of the 164th Infantry. Troops of the local provisional 73rd Guerilla Division covered the landing of the American forces by launching vigorous attacks on the Japanese along the Masnog, Banica-Cangmating beach lines. As the American-armored units marched toward Dumaguete southward from Looc beach, the enemy troops retreated to the mountains in the vicinity of Mt. Talinis of the "Cuernos de Negros" area. By the end of April, 1945, all towns of Negros Oriental were liberated from the Japanese.
