General Note
  • General note - The Japanese arrived in Quezon on December 24, 1941, landing on the eastern coast, first at Atimonan, then Mauban. The battle especially during the first 3 days, inflicted heavy casualties on some 2,000 civilians who reportedly perished. Resisting the occupation forces were Hunters ROTC guerillas (later of the 46th Infantry Regiment, 44th Division). They fought until the province was liberated on April 4, 1945. A memorial marker, installed in 1962 on the faced of the municipal hall, commemorates their heroic deeds.
