- General note - This monument to Paulino Santos, the first Philippine Army Chief of Staff, stands in front of the General Santos (formerly Dadiangas) City Hall. Santos headed an office created to develop settlement areas in Mindanao. He brought pioneers from Luzon to open new roads and carve farms from the Cotabato wilderness. Dadiangas, the former capitl city of South Cotabato, was renamed in his honor.
