Notes
  • Notes - Popular belief says that this was the cross brought by Magellan. However, historians argue that this could be the cross brought by the Agustinians in the Legaspi expedition. It was "enclosed" by the Agustinians missionaries in 1834 during the term of Bishop Santos MaraƱon, to preserve it from the weather and from superstitious natives who tores splinters as a holy relic. The present cross is housed inside a tile-roofed kiosk along MagallaƱes Street, Cebu City.
