- Notes - Scientific name: Ptilinopus occipitalis occipitalis Family: Columbidae Local name: Lampangit, Punay, Taubong (Pil) Other common names: Sulphur-breasted Fruit-dove, Yellow-breasted Fruit-pigeon Conservation status: LC (Least Concern) A medium-sized species, large for the genus. Both sexes alike. Crown, sides of neck and of breast pale gray. Throat, face, and forehead washed with yellow. Cheeks, ear-covers, supercilium, nape, and hind neck magenta crimson. Upperparts emerald green. Center of breast deep ochraceous yellow; beneath that a broad belt of magenta crimson, and below still another of lavender gray. Belly, thighs, and under tail-coverts bluish green and white. Young have the head green. This gorgeous and common fruit dove is found at low altitudes and up to 3000 feet in primeval forests on all the Philippine islands except those of north of Luzon. Birds from the mountains of Mindanao seem to be deeper and brighter in color.
