- Notes - Scientific names: Todiramphus chloris Family: Alcedinidae Local name: Salaksak (Pil); Kasaykasay (Tag); Tikarol (Vis) Other common names: Black-masked/Mangrove(!)/Kingfisher; Sordid Kingfisher (sordidus); Collared Kingfisher Conservation status: LC (Least Concern) Medium-sized bird, crown and mantle greenish blue, wings and tail bluer; rump light blue. A black band encircles the crown from the base of the bill on one side to the base on the other. A broad white collar across the upper back. Underparts entirely white. Females more greenish, males more bluish above. Bill black with a horn-colored base. Frequents the open country, trees in villages, coconut plantations, mangroves, and the seashore. Not found in deep woods or in the mountains. Feeds mostly on grasshoppers, lizards, and crustaceans, but in the PHilippines is also reported to catch fish.
