- Notes - Scientific name: Mimizuku gurneyi Family: Strigidae Local name: Kuwago Other common names: Lesser/Mindanao Eagle-owl Conservation status: VU (Vulnerable) Rufous throughout. Face and throat without pattern. Breast, abdomen, and flanks with dark brown stripes. Crown with dark stripes; nape pure rufous. Back and wings dark rufous, mottled with brown and striped with blackish; scapulars with buff edges, forming a stripe along the side of the back. well-developed rufous ears. Legs completely feathered. Known from only a few specimens, from Mindanao and Marinduque. Nothing is known about the habits of this rare owl.
