- Notes - Scientific name: Phapitreron leucotis leucotis Family: Columbidae Local name: Kurokuro (Pil); Limukin, Bato-Batong Tulog (Tag); Alimucon, Limucon (Vis) Other common names: Lesser Brown Fruit-dove, Brown/White-eared Fruit-pigeon Conservation status: LC (Least Concern) Small brown dove, sexes alike, races differ moderately in the intensity and hue of bronze reflections on collar, and color of the forehead, throat, and ear line. Conspicuous by its call in early second growth to primary forest from the lowlands up to about 1600 m in all forest levels, singly or in pairs. Responds to imitation of its call. Eats a variety of small fruits and berries including peppers. Breeding noted from mar to Jun and birds with enlarged gonads recorded in Feb and Oct. Nest is made of small twigs and coiled tendrils from vines loosely arranged on the horizontal fork of a branch in a small tree, 1 to 6 m from the ground often in dense foliage near streams. Clutch is 2 glossy white eggs.
