- Notes - Scientific name: Pitta erythrogastra Family: Pittidae Local names: Suhay-bagyo or Leuko (Pil); Yokong (Tag) Other common names: Blue-breasted/Red-bellied Pitta; Macklot's Pitta (macklotii); Sula Pitta (dohertyi) Conservation status: LC (Least Concern) The red-breasted pitta is usually found on the ground of dark arreas in forests and second growths throughout the Philippines--especially Basilan, Bohol, Bongao, Cagayancillo, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, Palawan, Panay, Romblon, Samar, Sibuyan, Siquijor, Sulu, Tablas, Tawi-Tawi, and Ticao. They are seen migrating in large numbers in May and November. They feed on insects and small ground animals.
