- Notes - Bear cat. Arctictes whitei. A black-furred carnivore measuring about 54 inches long, with a tail half as long as the body. Belongs to the subfamily viverrinae. Head which is broad at the back taapers towards the tip of the nose. Tree climbing bear cat may be found in Palawan, and also in Southeast Asia, from Sumatra to Borneo and Java.
