- Notes - The tallest mammal, the giraffe can be as tall as 19 feet. It has long legs, a long neck, and an 18-inch-long tongue. It feeds on the branches and leaves of trees. Its habitat is open country in Africa. The giraffe on the left giraffa cameliopardis tipperlskirche) has irregular dark-brown, flower like patterns on the body. On the right is a reticulated giraffe (giraffa reticuata) , said to be the handsomest of giraffe species, with regular deep-red patterns.
