| Notes |
- Notes - San Carlos University in Cebu is the oldest school in the Philippines, established in 1595 by Jesuit Fathers Pedro Chirino, Antonio Sedeño and Antonio Pereira. It was named Colegio de San Ildefonso until 1783, when Bishop Mateo Joaquin de Arevalo placed the school under his diocese and changed its name to Colegio-Seminario de San Carlos. The school became a university in 1948.
