| Notes |
- Notes - Egg-laying turtle. When the hole is so deep that it cannot be reached by the turtle's hind legs, she begins to lay eggs. At this time , nothing bothers the turtle. One can even get the ggs by receiving them with the hands as they drop down from the rear in groups of two or four. The duration of the layig of eggs deend s upon the number laid. Aged turtles were observed to have laid 18 to 22 eggs in 10 minutes. younger egg-layers take a longer time, possibly over 30 minutes., to lay from 100 to 190 eggs. Apparently, the turtles lay their eggs once a week during the breeding season. Marine turtles breed throughout the year but the peak of the spawning period is August.
