| Notes |
- Notes - Egg-laying Turtle. A turtle is seen leaving her spawning hole. Very old green turtles that no longer lay eggs may be recognized by its dark worn out carapace wit may chitinoid outgrowth of the scutes, the growth of foreign animals like oysters, rock barnacles, etc., on its back. The scutes of the carapace may be worn out also due to lack of mating with the male turtle. Younger female turtles before mating have their carapaces rubbed and cleaned by the flippers of male turtles, making them smooth and shiny. From actual observation, old turtles that no longer lay eggs still go up to the spawning ground apparently due to instinct.
