- Notes - The Bilibid Prison in Manila was established by the Spanish government in 1855. Primarily, the Bilibid is reformatory in character; the one aim constantly in view is the preparation of the inmates for useful citizenship and honorable position in the community upon their release by engaging them in various trades like blacksmithing, furniture making, tailoring and carpentry.
