Scientific name: Capella megala; Gallinago megala.
Common name: Kanduro (Tag.); Paslan (Pampango).
Habitat: rivers, fishpond and open fields, seashores and lakes.
Food: worms, insects, small shrimps and some plants.
The nest is a shallow depression on the ground which usually contains 4 eggs. The egg is broad and bluntly tipped, milky white or yellowish spotted with brown or grey. Winters in northern China, migrating to the Philippines in September of each year.
