- Notes - Sayon and Ining Amban, whose Christian names are Leonila and Marcela, wear the more common festive female Bagobo attire. Their blouses are made of cotton, and their skirts are woven from coarse abaca cloth (dagmay). The Bagobo girl makes both the fabric and the garments worn by the members of the tribe.
In weaving dagmay she makes use of fibers stripped from the outer layers of the hemp stalk, for those stripped by the men for commercial use are too fine. Woven fabrics are dyed red for the skirts and trousers, using the root of the sikarig palm as a dyeing agent; or black for the upper jacket, using the leaves, root and bark of the pinarren tree. It takes at least a couple of weeks todye a fabric. Finally, the materials are sewn into skirts, drawers, jackets, bags, etc., decorating them wit colorful embroideries, beads and shell disks.
