Notes
  • Notes - Shown is the interior of the Teatro Circo de Zorilla, named after Spain's national poet and dramatist Jose Zorilla. Located at the corner of Azcarraga (formerly Iris) and Evangelista streets, the theater, owned by Ramon and Valeriano Santos, Federico Ortiz and Andres Frois, was inaugurated on August 17, 1893. The Zorilla Theater was a venue for zarzuelas, silent movies and political conventions, such as the one shown in photo. (Source: The Theater in Manila, Cristina Buenaventura, 1994)
