- Title - San Juan de Dios Hospital
|
| Notes |
- Notes - Shown is an entrance to the hospital on Real Street in Intramuros. The San Juan de Dios Hospital was founded by a Franciscan lay brother, Juan Clemente, in 1596. It was originally set up for impoverished Spaniards and their dependents and for native-born Spanish soldiers, but when the Daughters of Charity took over its management in 1865, the hospital also admitted Filipino and Chinese natives. At present, its site in Intramuros is occupied by the Lyceum of the Philippines.
