General Note
  • General note - Rice is the main agricultural product of the Bontoc. Seeds are planted after the beds have been prepared thoroughly and the soil usually turned three times. The early part of November is planting season for the Bontoc. They do not shell the seeds before planting but lay them without covering under three or four inches of water. in rows so close together that when they grow the bed is "a solid mass of green" (Jenks, The Bontoc Igorot, 97).
