| General Note |
- General note - The Ifugao mother carries her baby across her back by means of a blanket (oban). In cases of illegitimate birth, the gift of the blanket by the father to the mother signifies recognition of the child (R.F. Barton, Ifugao Law, Plate 18). In the Ifugao family the father has the final say in family activities. The wife assists him, and takes his place when he dies (CCP encyclopedia of Philippine Art, Vol. 1, 289).
