- General note - Most of the water used in the Bontoc home is transported by women and girls 12 years old or more from the river to the pueblo. It is carried in ollas of four to six gallons, which the women carry on their heads (the men use their shoulders to carry loads). Many of the women and men who fetch water from the river carry babies, too (Jenks, 150). (Note: PE01546 is a duplicate.)
